This year, the Ypsilanti Rotary Club awards competitive scholarships to area graduating high school senior students who plan to pursue a college degree.

  • Scholarships are valued at up to $3,000 and are nonrenewable.

  • Deadline to complete application:  Friday, March 28, 2025 (by 11:59 p.m.)

  • Deadline for submitting transcripts and test scores:  Friday, March 28, 2025 (by 11:59 p.m.)

  • Week of April 7 - 11:  selected candidates will be informed of upcoming interviews

  • Week of April 14 - 19:  interviews will be held (required)

  • Monday May 5 at noon:  Awards Ceremony will be held (required)

  • Your application will not be considered complete until the review committee receives your transcripts and test scores.

All scholarship applicants must live in one of the following school districts: Ypsilanti Community Schools or Lincoln Consolidated, but may attend public school, private school, be homeschooled, or a "school of choice."
 

Rotary Scholarship Application Criteria

Please read the criteria to ensure that you meet the requirements before you decide on the scholarship for which you will apply. You may only apply for ONE Scholarship.
 
In addition to the criteria listed with each scholarship, applicants are also evaluated on the level and nature of their extracurricular activities, including civic activities, international and/or domestic service to others, clubs, student organizations, sports, hobbies, student employment and/or help with the student's family and household.
 

Gene Butman Memorial Scholarship   

Gene Butman was a longtime Ypsilanti businessman and Rotarian. Through his generosity and matching funds raised in our community by the Ypsilanti Rotary Foundation, an endowed scholarship is offered each year in recognition of his dedication to education, the Ypsilanti community, and the work of Rotary.
  • This scholarship will be awarded to a student who will be attending college full-time and has demonstrated academic excellence, as measured by GPA and objective test scores
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicants will also be evaluated for their potential for leadership, exemplified by leadership roles In high school and in their community


Dr. Gunder A. Myran Washtenaw Community College Scholarship

Dr. Myran was a long-serving President of Washtenaw Community College and a dedicated Rotarian. Through his generosity and matching funds raised in our community by the Ypsilanti Rotary Foundation, an endowed scholarship is offered each year in recognition of his dedication to education, the Ypsilanti community, and the work of Rotary.
  • This scholarship will be awarded to a student who will be attending Washtenaw Community College, taking at least 8 credit hour.
  • Applicants must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • At the discretion of the committee, the scholarship will be split between two semesters
  • Financial need may be a consideration in making this award.


Eastern Michigan University Rotary Memorial Scholarship

  • This scholarship will be awarded to a student who will be attending Eastern Michigan University taking at least 12 credit hours
  • Applicants must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Financial need is not a consideration in making this award


The Anhut Family Scholarship

  • This scholarship will be awarded to a student from Fr. Gabriel Richard High School who will be attending college full-time and has demonstrated academic excellence
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicants will also be evaluated for their potential for leadership, exemplified by leadership roles in high school and in their community


The Bob Willoughby Scholarship

Bob Willoughby was a long-time Ypsilanti Rotarian. Family and friends have contributed to this scholarship in memory of Bob and his lifelong service to the Rotary Club of Ypsilanti.
  • This scholarship will be awarded to a local high school student who will be attending college full-time and has demonstrated academic excellence
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicants will also be evaluated for their potential for leadership, exemplified by their roles in high school and their community
