Ypsilanti President's Report:Hello everyone! The Ypsilanti Rotary Club has begun the search for this year's "Richard Easterbrook Community Service Award". The award banquet is scheduled at the Thompson & Co. restaurant on September 30.
After a refreshing return to Rotary PETS (President-Elects Training Seminars) in Kalamazoo, these are my objectives for the club in the upcoming Rotary Year: 1) Procure an International Grant for a Community Feeding Program/ Education Program/ Assisting Mothers Program in Cristo Rey, a community near Managua, Nicaragua, 2) Get Rotary Youth Exchange, Rotary INTERACT off the ground, and increase #s in RYLA, 3) Maintain or Increase Current Club Community Support Projects, Adding to the List, 4) Growing Our Club Membership, 5) Any Potential Projects Our Members May Suggest.
A LOOK AHEAD:
* 9/9, 5:30, Jim Mangi, a Vietnam veteran, earned a doctorate in Biological Sciences and developed an environmental consulting firm that earned the business of multiple Federal agencies. His wife developed early onset Alzheimer's, which compelled him to collect all the latest information on Alzheimer's. He developed a keen new perspective which is recognized as an educational asset for the Alzheimer's Association. He has multiple recognition awards from Michiganian and national organizations. Jim will enlighten us eloquently - don't miss it!
* 9/23, 5:30 (Rescheduled), Stephen Ahles, Project SMART: A Rotary Action Group-Addiction Prevention Project that includes five (5) programs to eradicate the addiction crisis and reduce the pharmaceutical chemicals affecting our water supply in your community. S= School Education Program, M= Medicine and Drug Disposal, A= Awareness of Naloxone training/distribution, R= Recovery from addiction, T= Treatment of addiction. This one is a Must Attend!
